MANASO Engages State President on Community-Led Health Initiatives

His Excellence the State President of the Republic of Malawi Dr. Lazarus Chakwera at the official opening of the 52nd Global Fund Board meeting in Lilongwe, Malawi.

The Malawi Network of AIDS Service Organisations (MANASO) had a rare opportunity to speak with State President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera during the Global Fund Board Meeting in Lilongwe on 18 November 2024. MANASO showcased its community-led monitoring initiatives for health service delivery, supported by the Global Fund’s community systems strengthening program.

The pavilion highlighted the significance of community scorecards, commitment tracking, and milestones gained from community-led monitoring. A community member, Stalin Mghuandira, explained the scorecard process to the State President.

MANASO’s engagement provided a platform for community members to interact with Global Fund Board Meeting participants, fostering mutual understanding. As a coordinator of civil society organizations, MANASO represented the sector in promoting community-led monitoring as an accountability and advocacy tool for HIV, TB, and malaria services.

The Global Fund Board Meeting emphasized the urgent need for action against HIV, TB, and malaria, with over 300 delegates in attendance. The meeting celebrated progress in global health while acknowledging challenges posed by conflicts and natural disasters.
